Massage with Terri

Anahata is proud to offer Massage services as part of our wellness program. Massage is generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It’s increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension.

Who I am (in 10 words or less): I am an honest, nature-loving, family oriented, perpetual student.

What I do: I offer a variety of massage and bodywork therapies running the gamut from light touch to deep tissue, including: Swedish, Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, Reflexology, Thai Bodywork, Reiki.  I offer Private Yoga Sessions and Herbal Consultations as well.

Why I do it:  My goal is to help people find relief from their pain and stress, using natural therapies and techniques.

My sessions are:  My massage/bodywork sessions are typically a blend of modalities tailored to each individual.

What brought me to Massage: My education and work experience was in Horticulture and Arboriculture until age 34.  Due to the physically strenuous nature of my job, I herniated discs in my back several times and needed to change profession.  I had an innate feeling that Massage Therapy would suit me.  I graduated from a massage therapy program in 1998, and have been working as a massage therapist ever since.  I believe that experiencing a debilitating injury myself, allows me to truly empathize with my clients and gives me insight on how to best help and support them.

When I’m not doing healing work, I:  I love the outdoors, gardening in-particular…flowers and veggies.  Practicing yoga and meditation on a regular basis has been tremendously instrumental in my back’s recovery.  I also bike, hike, and kayak when I can.  This year is my sixth season as a beekeeper.  I also enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with family.

Inspiration (a favorite quote or two):  The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for.  Maureen Dowd
