Who I am:   I love to peel the layers to get to know the real you! (I am also easy-going, happy, caring and always grateful!)

What I teach:  Gentle and Intermediate Yoga and most recently Chair Yoga

My current classes and workshops include: Currently I am an ‘on-call’ substitute for Gentle and Intermediate Yoga Classes.

Why I teach:  Yoga has been a gift and a blessing to me.  Practicing yoga over the years, including my recent teacher training, has guided me along a path of healing on all levels.  I want to share this gift with my students.  Yoga is the union of mind, body, and spirit;  I hope to empower my students to help them accept and love their bodies as well as to live a more authentic and purposeful life.

My classes are: slow and steady with easy transition; attention to breath and alignment; I like to incorporate a theme/intention that is fun and light or deep and thought-provoking, both in different ways drawing your mind/focus inward and to the present moment.

What brought me to yoga:  Initially, when I first started to practice yoga, I did it for the purpose of ‘working out’.  As I continued to practice more regularly, I noticed I was standing ‘taller’ and my back didn’t ache/hurt as much.  I also noticed that I felt calm and more at peace after a class.  My practice continued, off and on, over a number of years.  Finally, over the past 3 years or so I have practiced quite regularly and couldn’t imagine not including it in my daily/weekly routine.  My mind/body/spirit connection has elevated to such a high level that continues to give me much inner peace and contentment every day.

Favorite pose (and why):  Oh this is hard….my fav pose changes quite often.  Today I would say my fav pose is Mountain Pose, Tadasana.  It’s a pose that helps me feel very centered, grounded, strong and capable.  I also feel powerful yet gentle while standing in this pose.  It’s truly amazing how standing still can make one feel so many different emotions!

Off the mat, I:  strive to be the best wife, mother, sister and friend that I can be.  Self-care (meditation, yoga, reiki, spin classes) helps me attain those goals.  I also love to read and travel and continuously learn!  With a sprinkle of binge-watching my fav shows!

Do the best you can until you know better.  Then when you know better, do better.  Maya Angelou

How you believe others view you only reveals what you think about yourself. Equally so, how others perceive you merely suggests the depth to which they know themselves.  This is why everyone deserves more love – not less.  Matt Kahn
