Open Your Heart. Share Your Passion. Learn to Teach Yoga.
Our name, Anahata, can be translated as the “energy of the heart.” We chose this name to not only represent how we serve our community, but also how we serve our students. Our teacher training program is no exception. Our program will offer you the tools you need to connect to the heart of who you are as a person and as a yoga teacher. One of the things that makes our program special is the communal bonding you will experience while learning in a small, supportive loving group comprised of fellow trainees and our caring, compassionate training team. Our current class size is four with six contributing teachers. Our AYTT teachers have a combined total of over 30 years teaching yoga!
Even if you don’t see yourself as a yoga teacher, taking our training is a wonderful way to expand your yoga knowledge and deepen your practice.
Our emphasis as a teaching team is on using yoga as a tool for self-healing and for personal transformation. We are a Kripalu-Affiliated Yoga studio, one of only 16 studios worldwide. We teach an introspective, Kripalu-influenced, exploration-based approach to yoga. As a teacher trainee, you will learn everything you need to teach all levels of *Hatha Yoga in accordance with Yoga Alliance standards, but with Anahata’s unique emphasis on the self-inquiry based approach to yoga. Our program is fully integrative, weaving ancient yoga philosophy and awareness of the energy body into the expression of the physical posture. The Anahata Yoga Teacher Training (AYTT) will feature electives on our teaching team’s specialties: Teaching Beginner’s Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Ayurveda, Hypermobility, the Chakra system, and finding your voice as a teacher.
*Kripalu Yoga, like most of the yoga being taught today is a form of Hatha Yoga.
The 200-hour Teacher Training Program will be offered one weekend a month for nine months -a perfect amount of time to birth your new self as a yoga teacher. A combination of on-site training, self-study and journaling will prepare you for this opportunity to share your passion for yoga. Even if you don’t see yourself teaching yoga classes, participating in the AYTT will allow you to deepen your personal practice as well as give you valuable tools that can transform your life and the lives of those around you.
*Yoga Alliance Standards for the 200 Hour Training Program:
Techniques, Training and Practice, Teaching Methodology, Anatomy and Physiology, Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics, Business of Yoga and Practicum
AYTT also includes:
~20% discount to non-required Anahata yoga workshops while participating in the AYTT Program.
~6 additional hours of post-graduate training
Comments from a recent AYTT Graduate…The AYTT program gave me confidence that I can teach yoga. Gaining confidence is critical to being successful because this is not something you can really fake. I liked the way we progressed slowly in learning how to teach a class. This really helped.
